Nothing Lasts Forever ImageThis book is about three young medical intern girls who were working in a county hospital in San Fransisco. One of them almost closed the hospital down, one murders a patient and inherits the one million dollars and one got herself murdered. In between this the author has demonstrated the then mental make up of American people that how hard it was for people to “not accept” female doctors and always to treat females as an object of sexual desires.

The book started little slow but picked up pace gradually. I liked the absolutely faced paced climax. it was over in around one page or less. Except the prologue and last chapter the book was in a flashback style.

Installing Mutt on Mac OS X

Apple’s Mac OS X has a beautiful graphical user interface, but under that there is a solid unix foundation. OS X is based on FreeBSD. This unix foundation has allowed OS X to have a native unix command line interface support.

I was using mutt as my primary email client for many years. But from the past three years or so I chose to move to Mail, the native OS X MUA, primarily due to my requirement of managing my calendar. However, very recently I decided to make another attempt to move to mutt and today is the day when I am installing mutt in my MacBook.

Richard Gott, starts with the basic concept and ideas of time travel with an brief explanation to the scientific theories lying behind some of the Hollywood’s successful movies. He further moved down to explaining the various concepts, theories and ideas behind time travel to past and to future. Linking the time travel to the beginning of the universe introduces the reader with many interesting theories and concepts.

Discovery Of India

An excellent book which gives an overview and understanding of the glorious intellectual and spiritual tradition of India and how the British forced the economic, moral and intellectual decline of India by vicious exploitation of the Indian people.

The content of this book shows the depth of knowledge Mr Nehru possess. He has referred numerous texts and books in this work, all of these references was not possible to be arranged inside the prison. He wrote this book entirely in a prison and wrote over thousand pages of manuscript on papers which he arranged through great difficulty.

A must read for every person who wants to make an attempt towards understanding India.

A Search In Secret India

A Search In Secret India ImageBruton has recorded his experiences while searching for a Guru (Holy Teacher) who can initiate him into Yoga. Its a marvelous account of how he traveled the whole country as a critical seeker and found some great Yogi’s and spiritual teachers but could not accept any of them as his Guru until he find Raman Maharshi.

My own Guru Pt. Sriram Sharma Acharya, who is the founder of All World Gayatri Parivar used to say, “when you are going out in the market to but vegetables etc you check thoroughly for quality, so why can’t you do the same when you go in search of a Guru“. The best part I like about Brunton is the critical questions he asked various spiritual leaders in order to test whether they are actually spiritual or merely taking advantage of the people in the name of religion.

This is a great book which presents multiple faces of India at those times and I would highly recommend it to all spiritual seekers.
